The La Raza Alumni Association
In the Spring of 2006, a group of alumni established
the La Raza Alumni Association (LRAA) at the University of Delaware.
The LRAA is an organization that serves many
purposes, most notably, it offers oversight and expertise to La Raza
undergraduate Executive Boards, fosters social and intellectual development
of La Raza members, works to maintain unity between under-represented
communities, and raises money in an effort to support future generations of
minority students in higher education.
The LRAA also serves as a forum for La Raza Alumni to engage each other in
the public, private and nonprofit sectors in an effort to increase the
wealth, power and influence of the La Raza familia.
The Ultimate Goal of the LRAA is to raise money to
establish an endowment which will support The La Raza Center for Latino and
Minority Affairs [hereinafter the La Raza Center]. The La Raza Center will
not just be a center promoting culture, rather its primary mission will be
dedicated to advocacy in pursuit of the Latino Agenda. The Center will
house the La Raza Alumni Association, the La Raza Investment Corporation
(the for-profit investment arm of the LRAA), and will have offices to
accommodate The Campus Alliance of La Raza, its sister organization HOLA,
and other on-campus entities associated with the struggle.
Membership in the LRAA is open to all alumni of the University of
Delaware. All Latino Alumni and La Raza
Alumni are automatically members upon graduation. All others are encouraged to contact
caleman@law.emory.edu to be listed in our database.
