The Role of the Historian:The Historian of La Raza is one of the most important figures of the organization because he or she is responsible for capturing and preserving photos and documents, which will guide future generations of Latino Leadership with their respective endeavors within our organization.
**Save Everything and Take Pictures !!!:  Save all documents that you come across that directly or indirectly involve La Raza.  Additionally, it will be important for you to take pictures at La Events and meetings so that they can be transferred to the La Raza website and your scrap books.  Pictures speak a thousand words !!  The more pictures you take, the better !!!

**Scrap Books aka History Books: The CALR Historian is responsible for capturing and preserving La Raza event flyers, meeting agendas, meeting minutes, newspaper articles referencing La Raza, photographs, and any other documents he or she sees fit.  These documents and items should be safely secured in a CALR scrapbook.  As the historian, you should call together a scrap-book committee - it will make your job easier & there are many people within our organization who would be willing to help you.  Once completed, the La Raza scrap books should be kept in the HOLA Office and should make their way to every La Raza event where a table is set up.  The Scrap Books will also be essential for activities nights and info fairs.  The completion of scrap books should be a high priority for you.

**Custodian of Records:  As the historian, you will be responsible for being the primary custodian of all La Raza documents.  Keep everything organized because you never know when the board will request you to produce a document for review.  Additionally, as the Historian, it will be your responsibility to make sure other board members submit to you copies of any official documents that leave the organization.  These include thank you letters, welcome letters, invitations, announcements, start of the year/end of year packets, and anything else you see fit.  In the event that a document is lost, you will be able to act as a safety net for the organization by producing back-ups.

The Historian's Constitutional Responsibilities:   (Appointed By The Vice President Of Administration) The Historian is responsible for: 
a. Maintaining a visual and written record in an organized history book 
b. Taking photographs of all La Raza events and providing them to the Webmaster. 
c. Being the primary custodian of all La Raza documents, including past Executive Board and Community Meeting minutes, registration files, and anything else the Vice President of Administration sees fit.
