The A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) is one of La Raza closest community allies that has supported us from our beginning and been instrumental in our success.  APRI is a national organization dedicated to

APRI is a national organization of black trade unionists, which was founded in 1965. APRI's mission, from its founding to the present, has been to fight for racial equality and economic justice. Their role is unique. They work with black trade unionists, the people best suited to serve as a bridge between labor and the black community. APRI spearheads the "Black-Labor Alliance" an initiative to build black community support for the trade union movement, and to convey to labor the needs and concerns of black Americans. With more than 150 chapters in 36 states, APRI members are involved in political and community education, lobbying, legislative action and labor support activities.

La Raza is allied with The Wilmington Chapter of the APRI Institute.  Our primary contact there is Mark Brunswick, a highly influential figure in the region.  Mark has embraced La Raza from the beginning and continues to provide unparalleled opportunities for our members.  It is important that La Raza continues to maintain our close relationship with APRI.  Meetings are held monthly in the City of Wilmington.  For additional information on APRI, contact Mark Brunswick at deapri@mindspring.com.

As part of the La Raza delegation, it will be your responsibility to maintain and strengthen our ties with the organization.  Find ways in which we can advance mutual agendas and do what you can to show that La Raza will always be a supporter of APRI and its initiatives.

Meetings for The Delaware A. Philip Randolph Institute are often held on the third Saturday of each month at the Longshoreman's Hall, 200 S. Claymont St., in the Southbridge section of Wilmington.  The meetings usually begin at 10 a.m.
